Brooklyn based Local Weatherman (lead singer Fritz Ortman, guitarist Ford Murphy, bassist David Murray and drummer Sam Shahghasemi) are gearing up for their new EP called Right One to be released in early 2026. The first single called “Thread” is a throwback to the early 2000’s emo scene when Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional ruled the airwaves. Local Weatherman’s sound is helping to revive and create a new vibe for emo in 2025. With their soaring hooks and infectious melodies the band is one of many bands ready to take the Brooklyn indie crown.
I talked with Fritz Ortman about how the band came together, his own original record label, and touring the States.
