I recently had a chat with Naoko Yamano from Shonen Knife on their cult legacy since the early 90s. The alt rock act will release Let’s Knife, on July 10, a collection of rerecorded tracks from the band’s heyday on Robby Takac’s Good Charamel records. Another Education Through Music Gala is in the books. This year Education Through Music celebrated its 35th year. Present were music industry heavyweights, real estate leaders, philanthropists, and passionate education advocates. Jesus Christ Taxi Driver is making America rock again. With their facetious lyrical content and lounge folk sound, this Colorado band is one in the making. Cleveland, Ohio based band Orange Animal have been together since 2017. Their songs are generally sentimental but I have a soft spot for “Run Lovers Run” which has a rocking Black Keys (who are from Akron, Ohio) meets Led Zeppelin groove to it.
