Folk act and Richmond, Virginia band Carbon Leaf is embarking in new territory with their new effort Time Is The Playground. The new album is out September 27 and pairs storytelling with their folk infused rock sound. The band is enforcing to embrace mindfulness and wants to enjoy the moment we are living in right now. The new single “Backmask 1983” is out now.
Barry Privett, frontman of the band, says the song is about revisiting the years before the internet was around. “Without a whole lot of information, the mystery of things felt so heightened. I wanted to capture some of that but also have fun with it.”
The band formed in 1992 and earned national recognition with “The Boxer,” a song that won the American Music Awards 2002 New Music Award and made Carbon Leaf the first unsigned band to perform before millions on the AMAs.
Carbon Leaf grew from the grassroots up from Richmond, Virgina and have been at it for quite some time now. Their legions of fans are loyal to say the least.
