UK’s most enticing secret is out. Sports Team is not your average rock band. They are playing around with many influences especially from the 80s. A little rock, a little sax, a little glam and you’ve got Sports Team. The six piece met while in college at Cambridge. Their most notable song and first single off their third effort, “I’m In Love (Subaru)” is getting quite the attention and their new album Boys These Days is not even out yet, but will be in early 2025.
Their sophomore album 2022’s Gulp! is an alt class gem that features Modern Frequency’s fave, the Arctic Monkeys-esque, “The Drop”. They continue to forge ahead with new material and their new music is shaping up a new wave of dance music to shake and dance to.
I sat down with three of the six members of Sports Team to discuss their favorite venues to play here in NYC, their love letter to Subaru, and what’s next on the horizon for the band.
