Both Merce Lemon and Squirrel Flower are two of the most underrated singer/songwriters out there. Merce, from Pittsburgh, and Squirrel Flower, by ways of Chicago teamed up for a stunning, gorgeous evening at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Although I missed Merce Lemon’s set, the hype she is getting does not compare to today’s modern musical landscape as she stands out as a diamond in the rough.
Ella O’Connor Williams, who goes by Squirrel Flower, stands out on her own too as she falls between Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star’s slow induced vibe. Her vocals are mesmerizing on their own—she doesn’t even need a guitar. Check out the videos from each artist below.
