Tamar Berk is an old soul. She’s been in the game since the 80s and is just starting to show her rays of sunshine. Berk has been in the music business circa late 80s and has been playing clubs in Chicago, Portland, and San Diego with back up bands up until her debut , 2021’s Restless Dreams of Youth.
Her upcoming album ocd is out September 5. The first single “stay close by” is a shoegaze Liz Phair meets Mazzy Star somber tear jerker, but shows her true empathy as a songwriter. The song dives deep with emotion.
I talked to the singer songwriter about growing up playing classical music, her new album, and where she fits into the pop and hip hop world of music.
