Ohio now Brooklyn based band The National will be releasing their new album Sleep Well Beast this coming Friday September 8. They performed the new material in front of a Philadelphia crowd on September 5. Listen to it in its entirety via NPR here. This is probably one of the most anticipated rock records of the fall. The band has already released four singles to the public pre-release including the lush, aesthetically driven “Carin at the Liquor Store”, which is on top of Modern Frequency’s favorites list.

Canada’s indie rock scene is ever evolving. The freshest sounds are now hailing from Lindsay, Ontario from indie band The Kents. They are helping to shift the scene once again thanks to their Waking EP. The rock quartet is comprised of Warren Frank (vocals), Freddy Kwon (guitar), Luke Shauf (bass) and Tanner Paré (drums).  The band was born in 2014 thanks to a high school project. Boston-Buffalo based band The Push Stars are back. After a lengthy hiatus of side projects and solo careers, the melodic trio is ready to release their fifth upcoming new album and tour behind it towards the end of 2017. The Push Stars are Dan McLoughlin, Chris Trapper, and Ryan MacMillan. The band’s last effort, Paint the Town, was released in 2004. Their song “Any Little Town” is a favorite of mine and anyone from Buffalo and Boston would definitely know it. The unique Tash Sultana is only 21 years old and was born in Australia. Modern Frequency already considers her the female equivalent of Carlos Santana. She fuses together hip hop beat boxing with rock and roll elements. Six piece French and English singing pop/rock outfit Sweet Crude performed at Ludlow House in NYC  and the end result was nothing but amazing. The Louisiana based band performed new cuts off their upcoming Creatures disc coming out April 21 off Rhyme & Reason Records. The band created an exuberant energy so much so people in the crowd started dancing. Sweet Crude holds the same passion that Arcade Fire had when they first started up.
