Matt Lowell, Crisanta Baker, and Sam Stewart make up the atmospheric, worldly rock outfit that is known as Lo Moon. The band talked to Modern Frequency prior to their performance at Bowery Ballroom in NYC as they opened up for Muna. We talked about their current song, “Loveless”, which was a 5 years in the making production, how Pharrell has nothing but love for the trio, and Governor’s Ball. Expect big things from this band. Modern Frequency just sat down with Wyland, a New Jersey quartet, with influences rooted in U2 and more. Wyland is made up of Ryan Sloan (vocals/guitar/piano), Mauricio Salazar (guitar), Zach Calidonna (bass) and Chris Luna (drums). On the eve of the release of her sixth studio album, HERE, Alicia Keys released a short gritty film about NYC entitled The Gospel. It covers vignettes that include themes of police brutality, love, and Keys growing up as a woman on the streets of NYC. This movie is a possible indication that Keys will be going back to her roots on HERE, which will be released this coming Friday. Enjoy The Gospel below.
The Donnas and HAIM have paved the way in recent years for a revival of all girl rock bands. Now, enters Bleached. This rock and roll and punk misfit trio has a great vibe going for them and they are quite frankly the best rock outfit to come out of Los Angeles in a long time. They were fortunate enough to work with renown producer Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, The Strokes) on their LP Welcome the Worms. Canadian quartet, Half Moon Run, are gaining some steam in both Canada and the United States. Their sound is reminiscent of 70s rock and roll.
