Boston artist Will Dailey has launched season 2 of Sound of Our Town Podcast, which sees Dailey headed to different towns to scope out the local music scene. Dailey also has put out the $10 Song Initiative, which is an ongoing experiment in human connection. His 2018 album Golden Walker walks the fine line of indie throttling the mainstream. His material is reminiscent of Pete Yorn meets John Mayer. He also hit the stage with legends including Eddie Vedder and Willie Nelson. He is in the midst of a tour with Jacob Dylan and The Wallflowers. Modern Frequency sat down…
Modern Frequency loves finding gems under the radar and Jess Nolan is a fierce female that is bringing back the great times of Tori Amos, Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan amongst others from the 90s women’s folk movement. Although Nolan considers her sound soul folk, she’s still with good company as she carries the torch in 2023. The singer recently landed on another indie woman’s radar—the Buffalo born and bred folk legend Ani DiFranco. DiFranco subsequently placed her on her Righteous Babe Records label. I sat down with the singer via zoom as she is on tour with another fierce female—Jenny Lewis.…

It’s been a while since we haven’t seen Jersey’s rock outfit The Wrens live in action. The last album we had from the rock band was 2003’s Meadowlands. Frontman Kevin Whelan admits there was some ‘internal stuff’ and that ultimately lead to the band not making music anymore. Now, fronting a new project may be tough, but Kevin Whelan just wants to get out there and play music again. Aeon Station’s, Observatory, out late last year, sees him teaming up with some of his former bandmates from The Wrens–with his brother, Greg Whelan, drummer Jerry MacDonald, and Tom Beaujor and the album,…
Canadian rockers Texas King buried themselves in work during the challenging times of Covid and the end result is that the found themselves in a more creative place. Formed in 2012 by front man and lead-singer, Jordan MacDonald, Texas King soon grew to be a four person collective with Colin Gray as lead guitar and back-up vocals, Phil Spina on bass, and Rob Shipway on drums. Their EP Changes is a lush, southern-esque experience from one of Canada’s most charming bands.
