Sweden rock indie act Juno Pearl is captivating audiences with their National meets U2 sound. Their lyrics are driven with honesty and emotion and talk a great deal about mental health as well. I talked to the band, which is comprised of members lead vocalist Anton Nilsson, guitarist Anthon Löw, drummer Jonathan Obenius, and bassist Gustav Thunström about Sweden’s indie scene, the band’s influences, and what is next in their musical direction. What does it mean to be from the indie rock Sweden scene? What is the Sweden indie scene like? Well Sweden has had since the 90’s a vibrant…
San Diego’s Elise Trouw is a pop singer in the vein of Alanis Morrisette that will have you talking. Her lyrics dive straight into women’s views and female perspectives especially with her hit single “The Perfect Girl”. Her new album The Diary of Elon Lust, which was years in the making, will be released next year February 13. She also learned a lot from opening for Incubus back in pre-covid days. It’s Elise’s turn, so get ready for her. We talked about the concept of her new album, women in rock, and her nation wide tour set to take place…
Had a chance to sit down with contemporary jazz artist and Philadelphia native Corinne. Her music is a blend of jazz, soul, and bossanova. She blends these styles effortlessly with her new album Stories in Pink via Bonfire Records. “Can’t Believe My Eyes” and “Requiem for a Daydream” are two of the many tracks that illustrate her sensibilities and diversity through her elegant musical styles. This is Corinne’s world—we just live in it. Check the interview out below along with the video for “Requiem for a Daydream”. https://youtu.be/lNePyhO2_xw?si=hWRSnD89d33uuL35 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E8xKgQSILk
Americana/folk artist Boy Golden known for his hit “KD and Lunch Meat” a few years back that got spun heavily on indie radio is gearing up for what is, in my opinion, one of the best albums of next year. The anticipation is building for it too. Best Of Our Possible Lives will be released on February 13. Boy Golden sings on the album’s lead single, the politically charged “Suffer”, “Prices go up but won’t come down” about the current climate of the economy but grazes on being present in the moment as well—which is a theme on the upcoming…
Flight To London, comprised of two music industry veterans Rob Vallier and Jimmy McGorman, are getting retro. Their 80s synth debut album Instructions For Losing Control, is a blast from the past with synths, saxophones, and melodies reminiscent of Tears For Fears meets Genesis. This is not a nostalgia project though. It’s a fresh take on the 80s in 2025. The songs dig into modern day challenges and relationships we face as a society in today’s digital modern times. It’s a rewind on the past musically speaking but offering a modern twist.
10xTANTRUM is having their moment. The foursome, (Eli Romanova, Jade Duncan, Jack Xander, and Diletta Busin) are blending art, music, and fashion in an admirable way and having fun doing so too. The indie pop quartet hails from many different areas of the globe but that does not stop them from creating their eccentric style of music. Their singles so far include “Babygirl”, “Trains”, and the most recent “Money”. Their eclectic avant garde worldly style is grabbing the public’s attention. Their power punk melodies and lyrics are fierce and are definitely without filter. The band is set to take the…
Brooklyn based Local Weatherman (lead singer Fritz Ortman, guitarist Ford Murphy, bassist David Murray and drummer Sam Shahghasemi) are gearing up for their new EP called Right One to be released in early 2026. The first single called “Thread” is a throwback to the early 2000’s emo scene when Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional ruled the airwaves. Local Weatherman’s sound is helping to revive and create a new vibe for emo in 2025. With their soaring hooks and infectious melodies the band is one of many bands ready to take the Brooklyn indie crown. I talked with Fritz Ortman about…
Nicholas Antonucci, the mastermind behind rock act The Shadow Self, is onto something—something big. His worldly/middle eastern style and aesthetic in music is captivating to say the least. Modern Frequency is premiering his latest, the epic rock opus “ENRAPTURED”, which details his experience with Catholicism and faith as he belts out “You’re not a lover/not an idol/treading water to just keep up the cycle”. His music reminds me of the Canadian rock outfit The Tea Party, as Antonucci admits that they were a profound influence on him. We talked about his influences, the instruments he uses, and how the 90s…
Social Cinema came together from Nebraska and Kansas as a collective. The rock act is defying trends and nailing down their own version of alt rock if you will. Lead singer Griffin Bush, Logan Bush, Austin Engler, Mari Crisler, and Reed Tiwald make up the band. They came together after the pandemic to create a sound all their own. The band’s first single is jangly rock tune called “You Want My Love” which creates a space for the rest of the record. The opening bass line of the song hooks you into a danceable unforgettable tune. I talked to Griffin…
Tamar Berk is an old soul. She’s been in the game since the 80s and is just starting to show her rays of sunshine. Berk has been in the music business circa late 80s and has been playing clubs in Chicago, Portland, and San Diego with back up bands up until her debut , 2021’s Restless Dreams of Youth. Her upcoming album ocd is out September 5. The first single “stay close by” is a shoegaze Liz Phair meets Mazzy Star somber tear jerker, but shows her true empathy as a songwriter. The song dives deep with emotion. I talked…
