Brad Wilk, drummer of Rage Against the Machine, says the band is officially done—again. The news came yesterday in a social media post the drummer posted. The band, a rock staple in the 90s have broken up before in 2000. Now, this time, the band is done for good following a brief reunion tour last year. Rage consisted of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. Vampire Weekend’s drummer Chris Thomson quoted Vampire Weekend’s lead singer Ezra Koenig as saying their new album is now completed. Koenig has been inspired lately by taking a raga singing lesson with Terry Riley in rural Japan. Koenig also feels like this could be their best album to date. Andre 3000, one half of the rap duo Outkast, is set to release a very non-conventional album this Friday after nearly two decades after his first solo album. The new album, called New Blue Sun, will be all flute. Yes, flute. The first track states it all: “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time”. He had encouragement from Frank Ocean and Tyler, the Creator on this project.
Frank Ocean knows how to tease his loyal fans as he dropped a snippet of a possible new tune on Instagram stories. This is the first of new music from Ocean in over three years. Then there was Coachella this year, where his set was cut short and his sub sequential performances at the festival cancelled due to an ankle injury the R&B star had. Creed have officially announced their reunion, as the band will be reconvening on tour next year. Creed went on hiatus in 2003. No word on new material from the band just yet. Punk Rocker vets Green Day have released their new album their new single “The American Dream is Killing Me” off their upcoming Saviors album. “As soon we cut it,” we said, ‘Okay, that’s going first,’” Billie Joe reveals, while also calling the single “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people – in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.” Saviors is due out January 19 on Reprise/Warner Records. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1TDvy7djJg&t=5s
Blink-182 have announced their new album in over 12 years featuring the classic line up of Travis Barker, Mark Hoppus, and Tom DeLonge. One More Time… is due out out October 20 via Columbia Records and details their journey to break up to make up as a band. Travis Barker produced the album and the title track is due out Thursday!
