Boston hip hop trio GLASSHOUSE are starting to tap into the culture. Luis Luna (Luna), Gerald Liriano (Liri), and Jahmo Elijah Chavez (Elijae) are fusing together hip hop and R&B beats with songs like “No Mind (oh my)” and “Sweater”. Their single “Slum Village” is an ode to the rap group that they have looked up to for so long. Their influences do range from modern day hip hop to classic R&B.
The hip hop outfit stood out as Boston’s hottest entry to NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest and then they were invited to perform at a slot at this year’s Governors Ball Music Festival. The guys of GLASSHOUSE are onto something big and are ready to bring their flavor of hip hop to the world.
I sat down with the guys of GLASSHOUSE as they are still hustling doing their day jobs but not forgetting to focus on what they do love and that is their music. We talk about their beginnings in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where they see themselves fitting into today’s hip hop scene, and what is up next for the trio.
