It’s been a while since we haven’t seen Jersey’s rock outfit The Wrens live in action. The last album we had from the rock band was 2003’s Meadowlands. Frontman Kevin Whelan admits there was some ‘internal stuff’ and that ultimately lead to the band not making music anymore.
Now, fronting a new project may be tough, but Kevin Whelan just wants to get out there and play music again. Aeon Station’s, Observatory, out late last year, sees him teaming up with some of his former bandmates from The Wrens–with his brother, Greg Whelan, drummer Jerry MacDonald, and Tom Beaujor and the album, itself, is an ode to moving on. The Wrens may be caput, but Whelan’s resiliency persists. I sat down with the lead singer of Aeon Station to talk about the end of The Wrens, the beginning of Aeon Station, and what more is to come.
