Rapper Naya Ali is following in the footsteps of the greats—Lauryn Hill, Tupac, among others. She adds a flair of eccentric hip hop beats and jazz to help her with her flow. Today, she is releasing a new song called “What’s The Move”. “I felt some around me feel entitled to the lemonade of my career without fully understanding how many batches of lemons I was given to get there. I didn’t stumble into courage, I cultivate it everyday,” says the budding rapper. The initial production of the record was made while on tour in Paris last year, with French…

He has played Creamfields UK, Interstellar, Seismic Dance Event, Beyond Wonderland, and Arc Festival. The DJ/producer is crisscrossing America on his latest tour. Punk rockers Beauty School Dropout vocalist, Cole Hutzler, drummer, Mike Rose, and bassist, Beepus Burdett are having their moment and it couldn’t come at the right time with the current Blink-182 punk rock revival. I talked to bassist and back up vocalist Burdett about the relatively new punk trio and how they met, opening for their idols, and their aesthetically pleasing punk rock sound. Love the name of your band. How did you come up with it? How did the three of you meet? Thanks! Cole came up with it one day after having run through a bunch of different…

Dailey also has put out the $10 Song Initiative, which is an ongoing experiment in human connection. His 2018 album Golden Walker walks the fine line of indie throttling the mainstream. His material is reminiscent of Pete Yorn meets John Mayer. He also hit the stage with legends including Eddie Vedder and Willie Nelson. He is in the midst of a tour with Jacob Dylan and The Wallflowers. Modern Frequency sat down…
Modern Frequency loves finding gems under the radar and Jess Nolan is a fierce female that is bringing back the great times of Tori Amos, Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan amongst others from the 90s women’s folk movement. Although Nolan considers her sound soul folk, she’s still with good company as she carries the torch in 2023. The singer recently landed on another indie woman’s radar—the Buffalo born and bred folk legend Ani DiFranco. DiFranco subsequently placed her on her Righteous Babe Records label. I sat down with the singer via zoom as she is on tour with another fierce female—Jenny Lewis.…

Techno producer Victor Calderone has seen it all. He has worked with some of the greats including Madonna, back in her Ray of Light days. His story goes back a couple decades, but his style and music are just as fresh as ever. We talked about how he got involved with techno music, deejaying, and producing for the Queen of Pop, Madonna. Where are you right now? In Brooklyn. Always a Brooklyn boy. How did you get involved in electronic music production and when? My story goes back to the 80s. My cousin had a recording studio, and he…

Born in Ottawa, now based in Montreal, pop rock band fanclubwallet just released a promising and cathartic new album called You Have Got To Be Kidding Me.
