Pearl Jam is back in the studio and recording new music since 2020’s Gigaton. Guitarist Mike McReady says the new material will be heavier. “It’s a lot heavier than you’d expect,” McCready continued. “There’s the melody and energy of the first couple of records. Producer Andrew Watt pushed us to play as hard and melodic and thoughtful as we’ve done in a long time. I feel like Matt Cameron’s drumming has elements of what he did in Soundgarden.” In other PJ news, the band is set to headline Bottle Rock Festival in Napa, California this year.

Brad Wilk, drummer of Rage Against the Machine, says the band is officially done—again. The news came yesterday in a social media post the drummer posted. The band, a rock staple in the 90s have broken up before in 2000. Now, this time, the band is done for good following a brief reunion tour last year. Rage consisted of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. Koenig has been inspired lately by taking a raga singing lesson with Terry Riley in rural Japan. Koenig also feels like this could be their best album to date. Andre 3000, one half of the rap duo Outkast, is set to release a very non-conventional album this Friday after nearly two decades after his first solo album. The new album, called New Blue Sun, will be all flute. Yes, flute. The first track states it all: “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time”. Creed have officially announced their reunion, as the band will be reconvening on tour next year. Creed went on hiatus in 2003. No word on new material from the band just yet.
