According to Pitchfork.com: she has reunited with producer Justin Raisen for the new record, which has additional production from Anthony Paul Lopez. Jay-Z and D’Angelo are teaming up for a new song for the movie Book of Clarence. The song is described by the filmmaker, Jeymes Samuel, as the following: “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss.” This is the first we heard from new music from D’Angelo in a while. The new song will be dropping this Friday.

Romy Croft says the XX are embarking on exciting new songs. She recently told NME: “It’s still pretty early [but] I still think you’ll be able to tell it’s us but I think we’re excited to move it on and keep it feeling fresh.” Croft also appreciated the time away from the band. “Well, the three of us knew there was something new needed to explore,” she said. “We all understood that we had to give ourselves some time to have space and learn new things.” Romy is in the middle of her solo venture and tour at the moment.…

Pearl Jam is back in the studio and recording new music since 2020’s Gigaton. Guitarist Mike McReady says the new material will be heavier. “It’s a lot heavier than you’d expect,” McCready continued. “There’s the melody and energy of the first couple of records. Producer Andrew Watt pushed us to play as hard and melodic and thoughtful as we’ve done in a long time. I feel like Matt Cameron’s drumming has elements of what he did in Soundgarden.” In other PJ news, the band is set to headline Bottle Rock Festival in Napa, California this year.

Brad Wilk, drummer of Rage Against the Machine, says the band is officially done—again. The news came yesterday in a social media post the drummer posted. The band, a rock staple in the 90s have broken up before in 2000. Now, this time, the band is done for good following a brief reunion tour last year. Rage consisted of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. Vampire Weekend’s drummer Chris Thomson quoted Vampire Weekend’s lead singer Ezra Koenig as saying their new album is now completed. Koenig has been inspired lately by taking a raga singing lesson with Terry Riley in rural Japan. Koenig also feels like this could be their best album to date.
