Flight To London, comprised of two music industry veterans Rob Vallier and Jimmy McGorman, are getting retro. Their 80s synth debut album Instructions For Losing Control, is a blast from the past with synths, saxophones, and melodies reminiscent of Tears For Fears meets Genesis. This is not a nostalgia project though. It’s a fresh take on the 80s in 2025. The songs dig into modern day challenges and relationships we face as a society in today’s digital modern times. It’s a rewind on the past musically speaking but offering a modern twist.
I talked to both Vallier and McGorman about the 80s influenced project, their tenure in the music business, and the album—due out November 21.
