Bass Drum Of Death originally began as a solo project of lead singer’s John Barrett back in 2007, but that all changed as band members came and went. Now the trio consists of John Barrett, Jim Barrett, and Ian Kirkpatrick. The Oxford, Mississippi band has a heavy garage rock influence to it, but their musical influences range. The trio’s new album SIX will be released on on September 12 and if the lead single’s “Do Nothing” indication of what the album will sound like, then you are in for a heavy dose of rock and roll nostalgia. I talked to…

Virginia native and upcoming singer songwriter Wes Parker has been on a journey. He was part of Camp Howard, a band near and dear to his heart. Then he decided to go solo, which was an adventure in itself. He branded himself as a video comic but eventually music fell back into his lap. Parker’s music is influenced by the early 90s grunge scene, as he is a fan of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana but the music is what spoke to him—even as a millennial. His music is definitely inspired by the 90s alt scene where Weezer meets Nirvana. As…

Badflower, a rock band originally from Los Angeles, has uprooted to Nashville, and they are ready to take over. The band delivers a pop punk sound reminiscent of the early 2000’s when blink-182 surged in popularity, but the band’s meaningful lyrics have deep sentimental value. Josh Katz, the lead singer, of Badflower says the band’s sound is a mix of the punk rock likes of blink mixed in with Death Cab for Cutie lyrical vibes. The band is now on tour with 311. Sat down with Los Angeles native Katz to talk about their latest album, influences, and their single…

Your Favorite Color is getting emotional with their 80s influenced sound. The lyrics surrounding their new tune “Where Did It All Go Wrong?” is based on branching out to their backyard of Los Angeles as they are based in Huntington Beach, California. The Orange County band is placing the OC on the map—again—as No Doubt and other bands cropping out from the area made it or are making it their scene. “Where Did It All Go Wrong” is a song that is universal and appeals to the soul. The song captures the moment at time when you are ready to…

The Technicolors are back after a four year hiatus. The band’s last album 2021’s  Cinema Sublimina saw the band crest and then the pandemic occurred and put a damper on things for the band and the music industry suffered immensely as well. The band reconvened for Heavy Pulp this year though. The new album, which is due out June 20, definitely has a more refined psychedelic raucous sound to it across the board. The singles released from the project so far show the band’s undeniable talent as we welcome them back with open arms. I sat down with lead singer…

Pleasure Pill might just be the dose of rock that we need. Reminiscent of brit rock band Oasis, the band’s new album Hang A Star is a 90s alt dream. The band even received the Oasis seal of  approval from Oasis’s Liam Gallagher calling the band “Dangerous”. The San Diego foursome just released the video for the laid back gem of a tune called “Don’t Fly Away”, which can be seen below. The band’s debut album is housed with melodic ear worms that you cannot get out of your head. This could be Oasis version 2 for the social media…
